HF Band Plan

Shown below is what is known as the HF "Band Plan", not to be confused with the internationally agreed to, frequency allocations known as the "Ham Bands". The major difference is that the frequency allocations are binding by law, and the "Band Plan" is not. The Band Plan is not what the Ham Bands are, but basically a gentlemen's agreement about how the Ham Bands are to be used. As an example, if you transmit on 7.310 MHz you are breaking the FCC rules, and can be cited and prosecuted for out-of-band operation. If on the other hand, you decide to run the full legal power limit on SSB on 7.285 MHz, no citations can be legally issued as no FCC rule or regulation has been violated, even though the Band Plan shows that 7.285 MHz is the QRP SSB calling frequency.
